One of the largest centers of robotics in Slovakia operates in Bratislava
The AGEL Bratislava Hospital is intended for all rehabilitation patients and includes both an outpatient and an inpatient section. "In our modern facility, we hospitalize patients after transfers from other hospitals, but also those who are indicated for hospitalization at home, while we specialize in the treatment of patients with orthopedic, traumatological and neurological diseases, with acute and degenerative problems," explains director MUDr. Jakub Rybár. The hospital is included in the highest category of rehabilitation hospitals. "This means that it provides rehabilitation programs from the simplest to the most complicated. However, its exceptionality also lies in the range of robotic rehabilitation services provided. With its equipment, it is currently one of the most modern and complex rehabilitation centers in Slovakia, which can ensure timely rehabilitation even for patients after surgery or strokes for the purpose of intensive rehabilitation," adds Rybár.
"Thanks to robotic devices, we can rehabilitate patients with diseases of the locomotor and nervous system, which are most often manifested by walking disorders, impaired mobility of the upper or lower limbs. By using robotic devices, we are able to set an appropriate load for patients and at the same time implement such movement patterns during exercise that would be limited or even impossible by means of conventional rehabilitation," says the head of the rehabilitation department MUDr. Marek Tkáč, MBA. In addition to robotic rehabilitation, the facility provides patients with individual physical education and physical therapy, which includes state-of-the-art laser therapy devices, magnetotherapy, ultrasound treatment, and electrotherapy. "Our hospital is one of the first to include exercises in virtual reality in rehabilitation. These procedures are used by both hospitalized patients and outpatients. In the hospital, we are building a team of experts who are lifelong learners, follow the world rehabilitation scene and constantly progress. Our vision is also the education of future specialists in rehabilitation and scientific research thanks to the collection of data from robotic rehabilitation," says Marek Tkáč.
At the same time, AGEL presented two new acquisitions in Hlohovec. It is a AGEL Hlohovec Rehabilitation Hospital with a capacity of 73 beds, which covers the catchment area of the cities of Trnava, Nitra, Piešťany, Topoľčany and Levice, and the AGEL Hlohovec Diagnostic Center. "This is a unique project that combines physiatry-rehabilitation activities with other specialized health programs and thus forms a complex post-treatment multidisciplinary workplace," says Ing. Michal Pišoja, MPH, LL.M., Chairman of the Board of Directors of AGEL and AGEL SK. The bed part provides modern rehabilitation care to hospitalized patients after a sudden stroke, after orthopedic operations and polytrauma. At the same time, he uses the most modern methods of treatment, which helps patients to return to normal life without restrictions. The hospital is also a training center for teaching young doctors in the field of physiotherapy. The hospital also includes the AGEL Hlohovec Diagnostic Center - a modern radiology facility that provides comprehensive health care in the field of radiology. AGEL in Hlohovec also announces further investments that will lead to an increase in the level of equipment and to an increase in the quality of the health care provided. "However, we can already say today that by purchasing this facility and building the AGEL Bratislava Hospital, AGEL is successfully remediating the Slovak problem of a lack of physiatry and rehabilitation beds for patients after stroke, orthopedic surgery or accidents. With almost 160 beds in these two facilities, we manage patients from the western part of Slovakia who need immediate follow-up rehabilitation care. This is a basic prerequisite for improving the quality of their lives," adds Michal Pišoja.
