AGEL FOUNDATION lent a helping hand to a former colleague
Life brings various unforeseen events that can have a serious impact on health and quality of life. Former nurse Zuzana Fritzová, who worked in the department of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine and later in the neurological clinic at the AGEL Krompachy Hospital, found herself in such a situation. Thanks to the AGEL FOUNDATION, she was able to rehabilite in the specialized rehabilitation in AGEL Bratislava Hospital.
As a small child, she was diagnosed with type I diabetes mellitus. This disease seriously damaged her kidneys, and in order to improve her quality of life, she underwent a transplant. In 2019, she suffered an ischemic stroke with a speech disorder, affecting the right upper and lower limbs. Since then, Zuzana has completed several rehabilitations and exercises with a speech therapist. "As part of the AGEL FOUNDATION's Fulfilling Dreams project, we received a beautiful letter from the head nurse from the surgical department of the AGEL Krompachy Hospital with a proposal to help a young woman, Zuzana Fritzová, who also worked at the hospital as a nurse. The young fighter struggles with severe health complications and needs rehabilitation after surgery and long treatment. At the AGEL Bratislava Hospital, he undergoes robotic rehabilitation, which can help improve his health and return to a normal life. Even medical professionals are not immune to illness and injuries, and in difficult life situations our foundation comes to the rescue. For help, support, listening and hope for an improvement in health, which we sincerely wish for Zuzana Fritzová," said the chairwoman of the board of directors of the AGEL FOUNDATION Mgr. Iveta Chreneková.
"When determining the appropriate exercise load as part of the rehabilitation plan, we had to take into account the patient's associated diseases. Despite them, she is a young person with great rehabilitation potential. That's also why she should get a chance to improve her movement skills and quality of life as such, which primarily means improving self-sufficiency and independence," says the head of the rehabilitation department of the AGEL Bratislava Hospital MUDr. Marek Tkáč, MBA. "We are trying to achieve this goal through intensive robotic rehabilitation, which can more effectively rehabilitate weakened limbs and gait by focusing on specific muscle groups and faulty movement stereotypes. Part of the treatment of the patient's impaired mobility is also individual physical education and treatment of pain in the neck area radiating to the right upper limb with the help of physical therapy. Mrs. Fritzová tolerates robotic rehabilitation well, she enjoys exercise, and we can tentatively say that the set rehabilitation plan helps her improve her movement deficit," adds Marek Tkáč. Optimism and enthusiasm for the new device is shared by the patient herself. "AGEL Bratislava Hospital is a modern facility in a wonderful environment. I feel good here and I am extremely satisfied with the equipment, comfort, rehabilitation plan, as well as the attitude of the staff," evaluates Zuzka.
